USWNT opens SheBelieves Cup versus Germany
CHESTER, Pa. -- The U.S. Women’s National Team will look to extend its unbeaten streak at Talen Energy Stadium when it meets reigning Olympic champion Germany in the second SheBelieves Cup at 7 p.m. Wednesday (FS1-TV).
England and France will play in the tournament opener at 4 p.m.
The U.S. has a 4-0-1 record in five games played before a crowd average of 11,750 at Talen Energy Stadium (formerly PPL Park). The U.S. has a 13-3-1 record in Pennsylvania.
The U.S. took a 2-1 win over Germany on goals by Alex Morgan and Samantha Mewis in the teams’ last meeting in Boca Raton, Fla., March 16.
The round-robin tournament continues with matches at Red Bull Arena Saturday and RFK Stadium Tuesday, March 7.
The USA will be playing its first international match since a 5-0 victory over Romania in Carson, Calif., Nov. 16. Germany plays for the first time since a 1-1 draw with Norway on Nov. 29.
The countries’ professional leagues are in different phases. NWSL training camps open in mid-March. The Women's Bundesliga is about 12 games into the season. The USA has been training in Orlando, Fla.
