FC Dallas today announced it acquired allocation money from Chivas USA in exchange for the rights to El Salvadoran midfielder Osael Romero. FC Dallas held Romero’s rights because it had previously filed a discovery claim on the player in 2009.
Dallas has been stockpiling allocation money since last season, including selling the rights for the sixth MLS SuperDraft pick to Philadelphia for allocation cash. FCD appears to be priming for the signing of a striker to fill in for Jeff Cunningham if he gets MNT assignments or is slowed by injury.
Blog site observations point toward Jean Baptiste (Trinidad and Tobago) as one target for FCD and Toronto FC and at Brazilian 21-year-old Simao, who has been playing in the Romanian 2nd division.
FC Dallas continued preseason training today at Pizza Hut Park on the adidas practice field at 10 a.m. and on will train again on field number eight at 6 p.m.
