TEMPE, Ariz. - Baylor (3-1-0) suffered its first defeat of the season after falling 3-1 to Arizona State (2-0) on Sunday afternoon at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. The Sun Devils scored two goals in the first 14 minutes, as all four goals scored on the day came in the opening half.

WACO, TX -- Baylor (2-0-0) used seven goals from six different players, including six in the second half en route to a 7-0 win over McNeese State (0-2-0) Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Field. The win marks the first 2-0 start for the Bears since 2007.

WACO, TX--Playing in her first collegiate game, freshman Georgia Mullins registered the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute to lead Baylor (1-0-0) to a 1-0 win over Rice (0-1-0) Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field. The Bears are now 10-4-1 all-time in season openers.

SMU takes chilly 1-0 win in snow
DALLAS, TX--- Baylor had a tremendous season in 2009, pulling off some unexpected Big 12 victories and boasting a rock-solid defense and earning a slot in the Big 12 Championship tournament. But SMU showed off some progress of its own this spring and defeated Baylor 1-0 in an exhibition match at Westcott Field. Ryanne Lewis had the only goal of the game.

The Baylor University Bears made strong strides under head soccer coach Marci Jobson in 2009 and the Gold and Green figure to keep improving after announcing the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Wednesday. The Bears continued to look to the Lone Star State to prime its soccer engine. The class includes six from Texas and one apiece from Illinois and Kansas.

Baylor loses conference tourney opener 2-0
Baylor’s strongest Big 12 campaign in four years finally came to an end Wednesday when the 20th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies shut out the Bears 2-0 at the Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas in an opening round game of the Big 12 Conference Tournament. The Bears (8-6-5) gave up a first-half penalty kick in the 44th minute, giving the Aggies (13-5-2) a crucial push into halftime.

NORMAN, OK – Defense wins championships. Baylor is not looking at a championship just yet, but the Bears do believe in defense. The Green and Gold earned a Big 12 tournament berth Friday night, its first since 2006, with a 0-0 tie at Oklahoma.

WACO, TX– Baylor (8-4-4) used five second-half goals en-route to a 6-0 victory over Houston Baptist (6-7-3) Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field. The six goals were the most this season by the Bears and the most since scoring 10 against Prairie View A&M on Sept. 7, 2008.

AMES, IOWA. – Baylor continued to build its brand in the Big 12 with a 3-1 road victory at Iowa State. The Bears, now 6-3-4 overall and 2-2-2 in Big 12 play, have shown they can compete with the best in the conference, though not necessarily win them all. Even though head coach Marci Jacobson is very proud of the Bears’ play this season, she would be the first to admit Baylor still has a way to go. But the team from Waco is getting there.

Comeback earns 2-1 victory over Colorado
WACO, TX – Tied at one, sophomore Christine Clark knocked in a Bethany Johnston corner kick in the 85th minute to give Baylor (5-3-3, 1-2-2) a 2-1 win over Colorado (7-6-0, 4-1-0) Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Field. The win was the first over the Buffaloes since a 3-0 home victory on Oct. 19, 2001 and was the team’s first Big 12 win.

LAFAYETTE, La. – Baylor soccer continued its fast start this season, traveling to Louisiana and dispatching McNeese State 4-0 Friday in Lake Charles and overpowering Louisiana-Lafayette 3-1 on Sunday in Lafayette. The Bears (3-0-2) are undefeated through five matches, matching the 2007 squad which started the season 4-0-1.

WACO, TX—Defense remains the constant for Baylor in the young season. That is very valuable when goals are hard to come by. Despite outshooting North Dakota State 15-4, the Baylor soccer team was unable to find the back of the net as the Bears tied the Bison, 0-0 Friday night before a crowd of 508 at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The tie keeps the Bears undefeated at 1-0-2, while NDSU moves to 0-1-1.

WACO—Baylor warmed up to the 2009 season in a big way Sunday, blanking Lamar 3-0. That was a nice addition to Baylor’s season opener, a 1-1 tie with Rice in Houston on Friday.
