OKC ups unbeaten streak with draw
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Cody Laurendi’s goalkeeping helped the OKC Energy FC earn a 0-0 draw with Saint Louis FC, extending its unbeaten streak to eight games, at World Wide Technology Soccer Park Saturday night.
Laurendi earned his fifth shutout in six games, stopping the USL's third-leading scorer, Irvin Herrera, early and fending off a late surge.
In the eighth minute, Laurendi made a sliding save on Mitch Lurie off a Chad Bond corner kick. Moments later, Laurendi denied Herrera on a close-in attempt.
Danni König had the best chances for OKC (8-2-8, 32 points).
In the 11th minute, König’s 20-yarder was stopped by a diving Mark Pais. In the 68th minute, König hit the bar off a Kyle Hyland cross. On the final play of the game König fired high from close range off a Luis Martinez cross.
Laurendi had three saves and Pais had five.
Saint Louis FC (7-8-6, 27 points) had chances in the second half, Mike Ambersley rolling shots wide and Jordan Roberts missing.
Energy FC and Saint Louis FC have played three matches, each ending in a draw.
