NOT TAKING THEIR SHOTS
San Antonio FC stopped by Swope Park Rangers
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- San Antonio FC surrendered two late goals in falling, 2-1, to the Swope Park Rangers at Swope Soccer Village Saturday night.
A 30th-minute goal by Michael Reed provided the lead for San Antonio (6-7-6, 24 points), which lost its second successive game.
Reed, captaining the team in place of Josh Ford (suspended) and Rafa Castillo (injured), converted his third goal of the season off a Danny Garcia through ball. Reed, whose finish would be San Antonio’s only shot on goal, is tied for the team scoring lead with Castillo, Franck Tayou and Jason Johnson.
Matt Cardone recorded nine saves, surpassing the record of six set by Ford.
Swope Park (8-4-8, 24 points) tied the score as Dane Kelly headed a cross off the underside of the bar in the 71st minute. Mark Anthony Gonzalez scored the deciding goal in the 84th minute.
San Antonio FC lost for the second time when scoring first in the match and registered consecutive defeats for the first time since April, recording a season-low two shots.
