TCU GRABS NO. 7 SEED
Horned Frogs draw at Kansas, face Baylor in Big 12 tourney
McKenzie Oliver tallied early in the second half Friday as TCU rallied for a 1-1 draw at Kansas to claim the No. 7 seed and avoid second-ranked West Virginia to open the Big 12 Conference tournament.
The Horned Frogs (8-7-3 overall, 2-3-3 Big 12) get a quarterfinal date Wednesday in Kansas City, Kan., with second-seeded Baylor after Oklahoma State conceded two late goals to lose to Oklahoma and finish eighth in the nine-team conference.
Kansas (8-8-2, 3-4-1), which went ahead through Liana Salazar in the 31st minute, is seeded sixth and will face third-seeded Texas in a quarterfinal.
I liked that we were able to fight back from a goal down, TCU coach Eric Bell said on his school's athletics website. It was a hard game, but we showed a lot of character. We feel good about where we are.
Salazar gave the Jayhawks the lead, heading home an Ashley Williams cross, but TCU took charge after halftime and pulled even in the 57th minute, with Oliver chipping in a feed from Michelle Prokof.
