SMU Mustangs

December 18, 2015
Meet the candidates, and vote!

SMU sophomore forward Mauro Cichero is the Dallas Soccer News menís college player of the year and a contender for the Soccer News Net Menís College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

Cichero, from Norman, Okla., was the chief scorer and playmaker for the Mustangs, who won the American Athletic Conference regular-season title and reached the NCAA Division I Sweet 16. He's from a soccer family -- his father played and two brothers play professionally -- and his pedigree was apparent for SMU. The 6-foot-3 attacker scored a team-best 10 goals and assisted nine more, winning first-team All-AAC and All-East Region honors. He's got a dozen goals and 13 assists in two seasons as a Mustang mainstay.

Fan voting accounts for 40 percent toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot, and the winner of the popular voting receives the Soccer News Net Supportersí Choice award. Voting for the College Boot is open through Dec. 23.
