No. 20 South Florida stays atop AAC women's standings

Olivia Chance and Yaya Martinez scored first half goals, and No. 20 South Florida on Sunday spoiled the home finale for SMU's women with a 2-0 American Athletic Conference decision.

The Bulls (13-2-2 overall, 6-1-1 AAC) retained a one-point lead on No. 15 Connecticut (14-2-0, 6-1-0), with Central Florida (10-5-1, 5-3-0) another three points back.

SMU (5-8-3, 2-4-1) lost for the fourth time in five games and are tied for seventh, with Temple and East Carolina, a dozen points off the lead.

Chase scored her eighth goal of the season with a 25-yard shot in the 25th minute, and Martinez doubled the advantage with a tap-in just 42 seconds before the break.

SMU plays Thursday at Temple.
